One thing I find myself talking to customers about more than anything is colour-matching. It's worth thinking through properly. The paving you choose, the edging kerb alongside it, any feature border or step detail, they all need to sit together without fighting each other. We carry samples and we take time on this. A sandstone terrace with a contrasting dark granite sett border, for instance, can look really sharp. But pick the wrong tones and the whole thing can look a bit thrown together, even if the workmanship is fine.
